2kt receives funding support from the Scottish Government's Scottish Executive Expertise, Knowledge & Innovation Transfer programme (SEEKIT), the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), European Structural Funds (ESF), Scottish Enterprise (SE) and the Scottish Funding Council (SFC).
Scottish Funding Council
The Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council (SFC) is the national, strategic body that is responsible for funding teaching and learning provision, research and other activities in Scotland's 43 colleges and 20 universities and higher education institutions.
The SFC’s mission is to invest in the development of a coherent college and university system which, through enhanced learning, research and knowledge exchange, leads to improved economic, educational, social, civic and cultural outcomes for the people of Scotland.
SEEKIT
The SEEKIT programme is designed to support projects that promote co-operation in R&D, Research and Technology Development and knowledge exchange between the Scottish public sector science bases (such as Scottish universities and research institutes) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
The key objectives of the new programme are:
- to help effect wealth creation from the science base;
- to increase the competitiveness of SMEs through their engagement with the science base; and
- to encourage productive knowledge transfer links between business and the science base.
ERDF
2kt is supported by funding from the Lowlands and Uplands Scotland European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Programme 2007-2013. ERDF is a vehicle for promoting the economic development and regeneration of defined areas within the Member States of the European Union. As an EU Regional Competitiveness Programme, the key objectives are to tackle both the region-wide challenges of research and innovation and enterprise development as well as the localised challenges of urban and rural areas within the region.
Scottish Enterprise
Scottish Enterprise (SE) is Scotland's main economic, enterprise, innovation and investment agency. SE ultimate goal is to stimulate sustainable growth of Scotland’s economy.
To achieve this they help ambitious and innovative businesses grow and become more successful. SE also work with public and private sector partners to develop the business environment in Scotland and deliver a range of dedicated support services locally, nationally and internationally. SE activities help businesses with the appetite and capacity to grow to:
- improve efficiencies;
- access new sources of funding; and
- conquer new markets.
