Surface Active Solutions

"The research expertise of Edinburgh Napier University provides us with access to world class research capabilities in the area of waste management and environmental management." John Harrison, SAS.
Surface Active Solutions Ltd is a Scottish based company providing specialist products and services for solving environmental issues. SAS's particular focus is on the oil and gas industry supplying microemulsion based cleaning products and integrated engineering systems for a number of processes including wellbore clean-up, downhole remediation, drill cuttings cleaning, mud boat and mud pit cleaning and treatment of oily emulsion slop wastes. SAS patented microemulsion technology utilises a system of water, oil and amphiphile (surfactant) which has the capability to "dissolve" and solubilise oil in water and vice versa. SAS microemusion technology allows for the reduction of waste, the minimisation of physical labour and safety risks and also maximises cost savings due to novel ways of management of the cleaning process.
2kT has assisted SAS in developing novel products for the oilfield market through securing a SCORE project with Edinburgh Napier University. It is envisaged that this KTP project in the pipeline will allow the company to extend their product range.

"SAS is an innovative company. We are always looking to introduce our latest research findings into our product range. The research expertise of Edinburgh Napier University provides us with access to world class research capabilities in the area of waste management and environmental management. 2kT has been invaluable in helping us developing strong working relationships with the University and securing SCORE funding. The BDM helped us identify a suitable funding source, prepare the application and then aided us in navigating a lengthy review process. In general the support provided by 2kT BDM was highly professional and we are already working on additional projects with the University as a result."
