Deeside Mineral Water is one of the purest, healthiest waters in the world, with a long history of curative properties dating back to 1760. The Deeside Water Company has been family owned and run since it was started by George and Martin Simpson. Following years of research to confirm the water’s quality, purity and properties, hand bottling started in May 1996. The company has the ability and capacity to supply major supermarkets, health food outlets, fitness centres, hotels and restaurants and export customers.
Via 2kT, the company were introduced to leading staff in Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences from Queen Margaret University’s School of Health Sciences, who worked with the company to investigate the potential health benefits associated with its products.
Deeside water showed a moderate antioxidant capacity in line with other leading brands of mineral waters. However it exhibited the greatest free radical scavenging activity. This indicates that Deeside water has the potential to reduce the harmful effects of free radicals. In conjunction with other studies, the research indicated that Deeside water has very unusual qualities, which are now being used in branding the water. Follow-on research to determine the in vivo efficacy of the water in terms of cellular health is now being planned.
