D Blake & Co Ltd, a lead contractor based in Edinburgh, has been working with 2kt to achieve CHAS status (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme), a health and safety contractors’ register that buyers consult as an official tender list.
By working with 2kt, D Blake & Co Ltd hopes to become the first lead-work organisation in Scotland to be CHAS certified, giving it a head start on its competitors and increasing contract opportunities, particularly with the public sector.
The company, established in 1877, is renowned for its high quality work in architectural cladding and restoration of lead, copper, zinc and stainless steel, and has worked on some of Scotland’s most prestigious buildings. Gaining CHAS registration is completely innovative for the company and forms a key part of its business strategy.
In addition to reviewing its health and safety procedures with 2kt, D Blake & Co Ltd is also hoping to undertake a Knowledge Transfer Partnership project to develop business management systems.
